I wonder how long this can carry on for ...

Day 8 of no smoking:
One Zyban pill.
I am beginning to think that I only need the morning pill.
Will take the second one if I know I am going out at night.
“ 100% smoke free minus 3 cigarettes” since 11 May 2004.
I think that from tomorrow onwards FARRAGO should return to its normal postings.

Monday, 17 May 2004
Day 7 of no smoking:
Two Zyban pills - 8 hours apart.
I had 3 cigarettes on Saturday night ....
Nothing since then.
I have not given up giving up!

Friday, 14 May 2004
Day 4 of no smoking:
Two Zyban pills - 8 hours apart.
Ho-hum ... today was a walk in the park ....
Still 100% smoke-free!
FACT:
I thought it was impossible!

Day 3 of no smoking:
Forgot to take the morning pill, still have to take the evening pill.
Not so bad today, slight headache at 12:30pm - maybe because I did not take the pill.
Still 100% smoke-free!
FACT:
I had a few beers tonight and I still have not had a cigarette.

Day 2 of no smoking:2
Two Zyban pills - 8 hours apart.
I won’t tell a lie, today was tough! Tougher than yesterday, somehow.
I think some irritability showed ...
Yesterday and today I got light headaches at about 16h30,
but sorted that out with Disprin very quickly.
Still 100% smoke-free!
FACT:
Since I started smoking in 1979, this is the longest I have ever not smoked.

Day 1 of no smoking:
Two Zyban pills - 8 hours apart.
So far not even a single puff!
There were some tough moments, but no real irritability, just a bit of restlessness.
I am not going to lie and say it was easy,
but it was not nearly as difficult as I was expecting it to be!

FACT:
I smoked my last cigarette at 23h45 last night.
I only smoked 8 of the last 9 cigarettes I had left in my packet,

Day 9:
Two Zyban pills - 8 hours apart.
Anxious about tomorrow.
FACT:
It is 6:30pm and I have 9 cigarettes left in my packet.
|
|
Sunday, 9 May 2004
Day 8:
One Zyban pill - forgot to take the evening one.
Still feeling much the same and wondering what
forgetting to take two pills so far is going to do.
FACT:
At the beginning of May I bought enough packets of cigarettes to
last until the end of tomorrow.

|
Saturday, 8 May 2004
Day 7:
One Zyban pill - forgot to take the morning one.
Feeling much the same as yesterday.
FACT:
On a drinking day I smoke a lot more than 20-25 cigarettes.
|
|
Friday, 7 May 2004
Day 6:
Two Zyban pills - 8 hours apart.
Yes, as the package insert said, “dry mouth” and “ constipation” ...
FACT:
Benson & Hedges No. 1:
1 mg tar
0,1 mg nicotine
As per Government agreed method.

Day 5:
Two Zyban pills - 8 hours apart.
Yes, as the package insert said, “dry mouth”.
FACT:
On a non-drinking day I smoke about 20-25 cigarettes a day.

Wednesday, 5 May 2004
Day 4:
Two Zyban pills - 8 hours apart.
I am still not noticing anything “different”.
FACT:
I smoke Benson & Hedges No. 1.
|
|
Tuesday, 4 May 2004
Day 3:
Another Zyban pill.
From tomorrow it will be a pill in the morning and a pill in the afternoon.
These pills don’t make me feel any different. Should they?
FACT:
I have only tried giving up once before, many years ago.
It lasted until 3pm on the day that I gave up!
QUESTION:
Is this blog going to get REALLY boring?
|
|
Monday, 3 May 2004
Day 2:
Another Zyban pill.
I am still smoking as much as ever.
This is expected at this stage, I think.
FACT:
I have been smoking since 1979.
|
|
Sunday, 2 May 2004
Day 1:
One Zyban pill.

One pill a day for the first 3 days and then two pills a day for about 2 months.
With Zyban you choose a day between days 7 and 14 on which you stop smoking.
I have chosen Tuesday, 11 May 2004.
